ds woodworks

dswoodworks was founded in 2003 by dom shanks and has grown steadily since then, building up a wide and varied client base spanning both the creative residential and commercial market place.

Based in a shared workshop premises in East London I design and construct contemporary furniture for clients in and around the London area. The workshop is a creative collective with 5 other furniture designer makers. We all have our own established businesses but we can pool our skills when the project demands.

I work with a range of materials often introducing glass, acrylics, metals, laminates and composites alongside more traditional board materials and solid wood.

I have a strong design ethos and have developed my own style over the years. My portfolio includes a wide range of projects from bespoke furniture to fitted kitchens and made to measure shelving and storage solutions however I am always keen to take on more unique and challenging projects. The majority of my work is assembled at the workshop before fitting onsite. I also undertake some restoration work where appropriate.

I enjoy the creative freedom my work gives me and I hope this is evident in the furniture I create. I pride myself on the way I deal with my clients and on the standard of work I produce. As the vast majority of my work comes via word of mouth it's important to keep these standards high.

dswoodworks uses FSC marked board materials and solid timber from sustainable/reclaimed sources wherever possible.
