case studies
Brief:
To design a sideboard with hidden desk and drawers. After discussion with the client I was given a simple pencil drawing of what the end result might look like. I then used this sketch as a working drawing.
Construction:
I decided to make a scaled mdf model of the the peice to test the sliding mechanism for the desk and to trial the mitred edges as they were all to be sprayed in a high gloss lacquer. Once this had been done the full size mdf piece was built and all the lamininated areas were masked off ready for spraying. A small cabling slot was then cut along the length of the back edge.
Finished piece:
I was very pleased with the finished piece and liked the way the project evolved from a pencil sketch. The contrast with the white gloss lacquer and yellow gloss laminate worked really well. The client was very happy and said on delivery that "it was the bomb...".
